  1. Short: HD Installer for SWOS (...95/96, EC'96)

  6. Using this program you can install Sensible World of Soccer on your HD.
  7. Main part of it is written by Sentinel.  I've modified it only a little.  I
  8. had to do it because it didn't work with SWOS 1.1, 95/96 and EC'96.

  10. Features:
  11. - 1.0, 1.1, 95/96 and EC'96 versions of SWOS supported.
  12. - easy way of installation (installer script).
  13. - an icon included.

  15. Requirements:
  16. - 3 meg of RAM (tested on 2MB Chip / 4MB Fast)
  17. - hard disk (if you haven't one, why have you downloaded it?)

  19. Using:
  20. First of all you have to have an Installer somewhere in your system path.
  21. I think the best place for it is C:  directory.  Then you can run installer
  22. script by clicking on an "SWOS Install" icon.  Now you can set the
  23. directory where the game should be installed, choose the version of SWOS,
  24. insert SWOS disks and wait.

  26. Disclaimer:
  27. This program has been tested with all supported (1.0, 1.1, 95/96 and EC'96)
  28. versions of SWOS and it seems to work properly.  However authors are not
  29. responsible for any loss of data, damages to software or hardware that may
  30. result directly or indirectly from the use of this program.  I can't
  31. guarantee, that my installer works with all pirated versions of SWOS.
  32. However it should work with originals.

  37. If you are a fan of SWOS try to download SWOS data editor.  It's available
  38. in Aminet /pub/aminet/game/patch/SWOSEd.lha. It's not an older version
  39. of swosedv2.lha file! Download SWOSEd.lha!

  42. DOES IT WORK WITH 95/96?

  44. Forgive me bugs in previous version of HD installer, which didn't let some
  45. versions of SWOS work properly, because Amiga was crashing.  It didn't work
  46. with original SWOS 95/96 for example...  Sorry, my fault.  Now it works.  I
  47. tried to install original SWOS 95/96 using updated HD installer and it
  48. works.  What to do if it doesn't work with your version of the game?  Order
  49. an original copy from Sensible Software.

  52. IMPORTANT FOR SWOS 95/96 AND EC'96 USERS:

  54. Don't format, delete or do whatever with your original SWOS disks.
  55. Sometimes you'll have to insert these disk to floppy drive.  I have tried
  56. but I can't find a procedure, which checks is a proper disk inserted.
  57. Everything will be loaded from HD (well, from the memory, indeed) of
  58. course.

  63. Even if your Amiga has 6MB of RAM, sometimes SWOS can't be loaded properly
  64. because of memory fragmentation, an error message appears, or ECS/OCS
  65. version is loaded even if you have an AGA machine.  How to solve this
  66. problem?  Very simple.  Prepare a special boot disk.
  67.   1. Format a diskette
  68.   2. Create a drawer called "s" on this disk
  69.   3. Create a file called "startup-sequence" in this drawer using your
  70. favourite text editor.  It should look like this:

  72. Cd Work:Games/SWOS  ; specify a path where SWOS is installed on your HD here

  75.   4. Every time you want to play SWOS, boot your Amiga from this boot disk.

  92. What is prayware?  Well, you can use this program without any restrictions,
  93. freely copy it etc., but...  you have to pray God for help for the new
  94. Champions of Poland - Widzew Lodz - to enter the Champions League.  That's
  95. all.

  101. installer (it didn't work on non-AGA machines).
